On page 151, Greg's team is pelting him with orange peels. The author helps us to create a mental image by his use of the word "pelting". What are some synonyms for pelting that could be used in that phrase?

A synonym for pelting would probably be throwing or chucking because if you look at the context clues it says they started pelting orange peels at Greg and if you put chucking or throwing in the spot where pelting is found it would sound and mean the same and would make perfect sense.
